In March 2012 FieldPulse worked to design and implement a large-scale, representative survey of Mogadishu, Somalia, in partnership with Jesse Driscoll, Assistant Professor at UC San Diego, and funded by the National Science Foundation. View the white paper for more information.

In addition to creating a sampling frame based on satellite imagery, FieldPulse constructed an SMS network for real-time updates on the city's rapidly changing humanitarian and security situation. FieldPulse's SMS network includes hundreds of families and internally-displaced people, as well as market sellers in all of the city's markets.
